Is this an anti-development group?

No. We're not opposed to change in principle. We exist to encourage open discussion and ensure that proposals affecting the village or surrounding countryside are considered carefully, with proper regard for Castle Combe's character, heritage and protected status.

Who owns Castle Combe?

Castle Combe is a living village made up of privately owned homes, businesses and land. While it is an important heritage and visitor destination, it remains a place where people live, work and contribute to the local community.

Is this just about one landowner or one issue?

No. The Collective exists for the long term, to support the careful consideration of issues affecting the village and countryside, regardless of who owns land or what any individual proposal may involve.

What are you actually asking for?

Openness. We believe proposals that could affect the village or its countryside should be considered through transparent processes, with opportunities for community engagement, respect for existing conservation and environmental protections, and proper consideration through the planning system.

Can I get involved without being publicly named?

Yes. You can get involved without your name being published publicly. Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and is not shared publicly without your consent unless required by law.

How is this funded?

The Collective is run entirely by volunteers. There are no paid staff, and we do not collect membership fees or donations. Our only resource is the time and effort that residents and supporters contribute to keeping the community informed and engaged.
